FULL STORY: The National Toy Hall of Fame revealed the 12 finalists for its 2024 class, and once again my favorite childhood toy . . . illegal fireworks . . . was robbed.
The finalists this year are: The board games Apples to Apples and Sequence . . . the card came Phase 10 . . . the Pokémon trading card game . . . ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ gamebooks . . . Hess Toy Trucks . . . My Little Pony . . .
Remote-controlled vehicles . . . the Stick Horse (a.k.a. Hobbyhorse) . . . Trampolines . . . Transformers . . . and plain old balloons.
The winners will be voted on by toy industry experts . . . plus public voting at MuseumOfPlay.org throughout the next week. Three of the 12 toys will wind up getting inducted. They’ll be announced in November.
Choose Your Own Adventure was also nominated LAST year, but they didn’t make the cut. The four that DID make it in last year were: Baseball Cards, Cabbage Patch Kids, the Fisher-Price Corn Popper, and Nerf.
