On the morning of April 3rd, 2023 at 10:05 am, Humboldt County Dispatch received a 911 call stating there was an active shooter at Albert Lowry High School.  The caller claimed to be teacher at the school and gave vague details.  The call was quickly determined to be a hoax as the same thing has happened at numerous northern Nevada schools this morning.  

Officers were sent to check on all our schools. All Humboldt County Schools have been determined to be safe at this time.  It is unknown why someone would do this and the Winnemucca Police Department will be working with federal agencies to investigate this crime.  

The Winnemucca Police Department knows the safety of our community’s children is the highest priority.  We have three Officers solely dedicated to our schools.  In the coming months, we will be partnering with the FBI to refresh our active shooter response.  Thank you for your continued support.  Together, we can keep our children safe.
