FIGHTING BACK AGAINST CORRUPTION IN D.C.Earlier this month, my bipartisan No CORRUPTION Act passed the Senate, a big step toward ensuring we enact commonsense solutions to prohibit corruption by D.C. politicians.I worked across the aisle on this bill because Nevadans sent me to the Senate to fight for them, stand up to business-as-usual politics, and protect taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars from abuse. Now that my bill has passed the Senate, I’ll keep pushing for the bipartisan No CORRUPTION Act to become law so we can finally close loopholes that have allowed for corrupt Washington politicians to continue collecting taxpayer-funded pensions.
PASSING THIS YEAR’S BIPARTISAN NATIONAL DEFENSE BILLEach year, passing the national defense bill is a major priority. I’m proud to share that this year’s bill includes several priorities that I helped secure, including: A 5.2% pay raise for our troops;Funding for military construction projects at Nellis Air Force Base;Expanding mental health and family support services for those who have served at remote installations like Creech AFB and Naval Air Station Fallon; andThe creation of programs to strengthen our nation’s cybersecurity workforce and support our defense small businesses.
EXPANDING ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE CHILD CARE Without access to affordable child care, hardworking Nevada families will continue to be squeezed by high costs. My bipartisan bill to help increase the number of child care providers and lower costs for hardworking families recently passed out of Senate committee and is moving forward. I’ll keep pushing to make sure this bill becomes law, increasing access to affordable quality child care for Nevadans.
FIGHTING FOR SERVICEMEMBERS & THEIR FREEDOMSFor months, Senator Tommy Tuberville, a Republican from Alabama, has been blocking the promotion of several hundred military officers, citing his opposition to the Defense Department’s policy ensuring female servicemembers can travel to access reproductive care if they are based in a state that currently restricts access. As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, I’ve remained committed to pushing to end this charade, which is hurting our national security. In the past few months, I have:Taken to the Senate floor to end this extreme anti-choice blockade.Joined my colleagues on the Senate Armed Services Committee calling on Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to push to end Senator Tuberville’s anti-choice blockade.Condemned the blockade during a Senate Armed Services Committee nomination hearing for the Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman – another confirmation that Senator Tuberville is blocking. As your Senator, I will never stop fighting for our servicemembers or our national security.
