FULL STORY:  Everyone knows you’re supposed to limit your junk food.  And everyone . . . doesn’t really do that.  But one of the ways people get around it is:  Blurring the definition of what junk food is.

A new poll asked people if they considered various foods to be junk food or not.  There were around 40 foods overall.

The one that MOST people said was junk food was “sweets.”  91% of people consider sweets to be junk food, and only 8% say they’re not.  Here’s the rest of the Top 10:

2.  Soda / pop . . . 89% say it’s junk food, 7% say it’s not.

3.  Chips . . . 88% say they’re junk food, 10% say they’re not.

4.  Energy drinks . . . 87% say they’re junk food, 8% say they’re not.

5.  Chocolate . . . 80% say it’s junk food, 17% say it’s not.

6.  Cakes . . . 78% say they’re junk food, 19% say they’re not.

7.  French fries . . . 78% say they’re junk food, 19% say they’re not.

8.  Icing . . . 76% say it’s junk food, 18% say it’s not.

9.  Pizza . . . 76% say it’s junk food, 20% say it’s not.

10.  Tortilla chips . . . 75% say they’re junk food, 20% say they’re not.

If you’re like me, you’re probably getting hungry.  

Of the items they asked about, the one that most people agreed was NOT junk food was “strawberries.”  98% said they’re not junk food, 1% said they were.  Here are the rest of the 10 non-junk food items:

3.  Oatmeal . . . 96% say it’s NOT junk food, 2% say it is.

4.  Baked potatoes . . . 96% say they’re NOT junk food, 3% say they are.

5.  Yogurt . . . 92% say it’s NOT junk food, 5% say it is.

6.  Muesli . . . 86% say it’s NOT junk food, 8% say it is.

7.  Granola . . . 79% say it’s NOT junk food, 13% say it is.

8.  Rice cakes . . . 79% say they’re NOT junk food, 14% say they are.

9.  Fruit juice . . . 78% say it’s NOT junk food, 16% say it is.

10.  Frozen yogurt . . . 70% say it’s NOT junk food, 18% say it is.

Cookies, ice cream, popcorn, and frozen dinners just missed the cut on the junk food side.  And crackers, cereal, smoothies, and croissants just missed the cut as NOT junk foods.

The item closest to being split 50/50 is:  Jelly.
