The following is a press release from the Winnemucca Police Department regarding an assault turned murder at the Amtrak station in Winnemucca. The release reads “

On the evening of Wednesday, July 10, Officers from the Winnemucca Police Department responded to the Amtrak station on West Railroad Street for a medical assist. After arriving on scene, Officers located an elderly male, Michael McClure of Caldwell, Idaho, laying on the train platform unconscious. Witnesses told Officers that he had been pushed down by another male who was waiting for the train to arrive. Officers located the male, Jacob Pendleton of Cincinnati, Ohio, and questioned him.

Pendleton was arrested for abuse of an elderly person and McClure was transported to Humboldt General Hospital for treatment. McClure was later flown to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, where he passed away, quite probably, from injuries sustained in his fall. The Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office has amended Pendleton’s charge to open murder.

If you were present on the train platform last night and witnessed any part of McClure and Pendleton’s interaction, please contact our office at 775-623-6396.

Witnesses help make or break police investigations. We need your help when you know something that can help us understand situations we weren’t present for.”
